Resumen: The basic theme of this book is the management of lung disorders. The broad nature of pulmonary medicine requires a masterful understanding of various immunological, infectious, traumatic, neoplastic, and inflammatory conditions. Some respiratory conditions arise primarily in the lungs, while others present as "lung diseases," but in reality the manifestations represent lung disorders from underlying "hidden" systemic disorders. In addition, the effective application of respiratory therapy requires competence in various pharmacological and surgical interventions, in addition to a mechanic's (or sometimes an engineer's) understanding of ventilator tubing, the principles of gas and fluid flow, and the electronic circuits of the ventilation and monitoring devices. . Not surprisingly, this complex field presents clinicians with great challenges in identifying the right questions, let alone providing the right answers to patients' clinical problems.
